SWEET AS SUGAR, BUT A LITTLE TOO LOUD?

I know I'm a rather exuberant football fan and that I have a voice that projects well, but in the excitement of the moment I sometimes forget proper decorum. Apparently, I was a teensy bit too enthusiastic in my appreciation of the Sugar Bowl last night and my neighbors felt the need to pound on my door to get me to reign it in and quiet down. Now I ask you, if you lived peaceably in an apartment complex with the same neighbor for 3 years and you've never complained about their noise level before, why would you beat down their door when there are less than 8 minutes to go in the final quarter of a once in a lifetime sporting event and it's not even midnight? Doesn't that seem a bit excessive? And cranky? Or am I just being overly sensitive?

A-Ha! Maybe they're Georgia fans...whiny baby pee pants sore losers.

Here's a tip: If your neighbor gets a little too excited tonight during the Orange Bowl or tomorrow night during the Rose Bowl, or--God forbid!--gets downright rowdy during the Super Bowl next month buy some fucking earplugs and get over it! It's not like I bitch about being awakened every morning by your lead feet thudding across my ceiling at pre-dawn hours or your snoring that is so loud that I have to listen to the TV or music in order to drown it out so I can fall asleep at night. I thought everyone in the Chicago area was a sports fan of some sort. For crying out loud. How are these people going to act during the approaching NFC playoffs?

Anyway, way to go WVU Mountaineers! Sugar Bowl Champions! I hope 2006 is off to an equally great start for all of you out there!

D-

I understand that you're rooting for the home team and all, but I'm saying Trojans all the way for unprecedented back-to-back-to-back National Championships! Either way, it's bound to be a damned exciting game to watch although I'm hoping it doesn't go on as long as last night's Orange Bowl. The evil overlords I work for just don't understand how vital football season is as opposed to getting to the labor camps on time.

Sorry, Marea.

Okay, not really. :-)

What a tough and disappointing loss for USC, but what an exciting game to watch. I think it's a bit tainted due to the controversial lateral pass resulting in a touchdown after Vince Young was already down, but it wasn't reviewed in time so it's too late to go back now. Big 10 officials are almost as bad as Big East officials, but what are you going to do, right? It was still an incredible game and Vince Young rightfully deserved his MVP honors.

I look forward to seeing what happens with the Bears in their NFC playoffs in the coming days.

"Controversial lateral pass."

Waaaaaaaah. Somebody call the Waaaaaahmbulance!

Jeez, no one can ever just say "congratulations" without trying to qualify it.

Well, wait, that's not true. So far, all of the national sports media can.

Maybe it's just you.

I agree that Texas deserves to be the national champions. They played the better game. USC made a ton of mistakes and couldn't contain one of the best quarterbacks I've ever seen play the game. If they had won, it would have been unsatisfying because they looked like shit for most of the game.

All that being said and done, I still believe it was a controversial non-call. Would they have still scored on that drive had the play been ruled dead when his knee touched? Most likely, they were easily within field goal range at the worst possible scenario.

Would it have made a difference in the outcome? Probably not. Looking at the final stats from the game with an unmuddied by beer brain, Texas should have won by a far wider margin than they did.

Was it a great and entertaining game to watch? You bet your ass!

Am I disappointed? Sure, but that's how games go. Someone's got to lose and last night the Trojans definitely deserved to lose.

There. Are you satisifed now, Dale? Probably not. We're both last worders.
