SHOW AND TELL

Well, the first weekend run of "Happy Sunshine Kill You Die" is now one for the history books. And in spite of the record cold temperatures, all managed to survive relatively unscathed. We had a great audience both nights and everyone seemed to have a good time. I'm sure the presence of alcohol and kerosene heaters only served to enhance the experience for the party that attended opening night. And thanks to Ben's girlfriend, we have photographic evidence to share on the website (see http://www.bwatersmedia.com/gaghappynov.html for fun and exciting live action shots).

All in all, I'd say the show was a success. We've learned what works and what doesn't and we may still make a few key adjustments before the next 2 weekends of performances. And as for the last 2 weekends, those are slated to be in the smaller and far warmer space so you should all be able to leave your thermal underwear at home for those gigs. Thanks to everyone who came out to see the show! We might have even drummed up some additional audience members for the New Year's Eve show in Austin. Congratulations to the cast and crew for all of their hard work!

As the Princess said, this was a great weekend. I will never, as long as I live, forget the eerie glow of the kerosene heaters during scene changes. Nor will I forget Stern's chair snapping during the final sketch, in the middle of a plane crash - only to be replaced by a ridiculous stool. The audience and most of the cast had a good laugh. Lord coming out unexpectedly with a strange asian war helmet/executioners mask thing on. I am proud to say - I never broke. Dale, you'd have been proud. There was also the moment I was standing directly behind the window curtain and screamed in Steve's ear: "Why it's Christmas sir!" I still think I should have done it in a Mr. T voice. "It's Christmas, Fool!" And of course sweet, sweet waitress Melanie who put up with our shit later. She deserved the $10 that Ben found on the floor and wanted to keep.
